LITTLE GRAND CANYON of the SIERRA NEVADA - This is always a great stop to see this geological feature. Quite unexpected by most that I have taken here. Always a different view from day to day and season to season. Highly recommended for visitors and locals alike. Don’t miss the Sutter Buttes on other side of the road.
*The hours are incorrect! There's no way to edit them as they aren't 24/7 but 6:30 AM to one half hour after official sunset.*
A real disappointment from how it used to be 20 years ago. It was then a locally well known overlook with a sheer drop of, I'm guessing, 500 feet. There were cars at the bottom that were obliterated. Rumor had it that it was a type of lover's leap site.
I revisited the town of Paradise and that was a shock and actually quite emotional for me as I knew what to expect but had friends who, between them, lost 3 houses and a human life. What devastation!
That aside, they had attempted to make this lookout a developed and regulated tourist attraction. They put up a fence to keep people back and boulders to perimeter a parking lot. They did erect a "wall" to reflect on the Camp Fire that changed so many lives forever.
Absolutely beautiful. Great spot to pull over and soak it all in. Very humbling to appreciate what earth was and is. Only one planet like ours.
This place is magical. It has beautiful scenary and lots of memories float in the air you can feel them.there are no restrooms but there is plenty of parking definitely worth stopping sunset was amazing.
Love this scenic view off the highway. So many locks of love to look at and daydream about the stories of those that placed the locks along the fence over the years. Great views of the valley below as well. Worth a quick pit stop when heading south from Paradise to Chico. #paradisestrong
I really wanted to stop and see the view. I've always have enjoyed it. This time was different because it was burned by the Camp Fire. It didn't disappoint though. Yes, it was sad to see what it's become, but the burn areas aren't black anymore, they're bursting with new foliage & showing the promise that it will be spectacular again, we just need a little time and some nourishing from Mother Nature. (The sunset pics were taken in Oct, before the fire).
Always a beautiful place to stop and watch the sunset
If your ever here around sunset, don't race home. Pull over and enjoy the view. It's amazing.
