They are slow as hell and unprofessional. You make an appointment and still wait over an hr. I made an 8 o'clock appointment and no one started my hair until 915. Mind you I got there at 755. It was 1 other lady there and 3 workers. 1 lady got made when I asked at about 830 who was going to start on my hair. I didn't leave until about 330 almost 4. If you don't have time to waste your entire day there then I advise you go somewhere else!!!!
This was a mistake. I am trying to help you when I say "Don't come here." After asking them multiple times do a simple task like make the braids the same sizes or make the braids the same length, they still could not do that. Then they had the audacity to charge over a hundred dollars for hair that doesn't even go past the shoulders. Save your money and go elsewhere. Never come here for braids... so never come here.
Please please please think twice before going here. There are only certain people that know how to live up to the African braiding name in this shop. I owner Ada pretty good and one other. But they need to start interviewing them on all styles . So please look at there work before sitting in there chair this was my daughter back to school do and it’s already looking 2 weeks old. i gave them the picture below and they quoted me $80 for that look but look what i got. My daughter hair looks like the young girl down the street that just started braiding did it. Smh
I wasn’t going to leave a review but I must. Me and my family have been going here for a few months and i used to come here when I was a lot younger. However, I did not enjoy my experience this time. I am not sure who did my hair but I got short faux locs. The lady who did my hair continued to complain about the fact that she doesn’t like doing this style, it takes too long etc etc. Then she says, “ I took up her whole day” and that next time she will charge more because of this. She played it off as a joke but she was very serious. As a customer, it’s extremely disappointing for someone to be doing a service( THAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR) and they continue to make you feel guilty for the style you chose. I would have been ok, if she told me that they don’t offer those services and i could have given my money elsewhere. Anyways, I still tipped wonderfully even though I felt bad while getting my hair done. Unfortunately, they did loose a customer and I will not return.
138 African Braids is the best. I moved here from another state and was worried that I wouldn't find anyone that could meet the expectations of my last braider, but no matter what these ladies can defiantly take on anything and you will leave feeling/looking beautiful. I love this shop, everyone here is good at what they do. Good job
I would never ever go back their again, I paid a hundred dollars for my husbands maintenance for his locks and it was horrible , the lady pulled out a big bucket of gel and a comb he said , he was on the other side of the shop if I’d seen it I’d told her to stop the. Next I ask for cornrows she put braids in my hair instead of saying she didn’t know how to do the style charged me 140 and then asked for a video. Please Stay away from 138 unless you wanna just give money away
I love this place been going here since I moved here 4yrs ago. Shout to my girl Adji and Sofi ❤️❤️❤️
First, I never leave reviews but this unprofessionalism needs to stop in our communities and maybe this establishment will view these numerous complaints I read before posting mines as constructive criticism to improve their business and not take defense because they are dead wrong for waisting peoples’s time. I have visited this business on several occasions, even took my daughter there so they “had” a repeat customer. I had an appointment for 10am, made arrangements for my youngest daughter, bought my own hair bc the stuff they use tends to itch my scalp and drove 30 minutes to the shop only to be asked if I can come back at 2:30. I was told the braider wasn’t there (heard that before). I explained that I had an appointment and arranged a sitter for the time I was scheduled and gas is not cheap but all I got was, I’m sorry. The least they could have done was text me before I drove all the way over if in fact the “braider didn’t show”. The owner did text at 230 asking if I would come back but wouldn’t respond to me asking for a discount, after all I had waisted a babysitter and gas going at my original time and would need to do it all over again. There are no words and too many of these types of instances. A business advise for you (respectfully) is to address these practices because repeat business is what builds a business and when you keep losing repeat customers, you continue to kill your brand. Good luck to you but you’ve lost yet another repeat customer.

Quick Facts About 138 African Braids

138 African Braids Place, based on the comments provided, seems to have both strengths and weaknesses. In order to analyze these, we will assess the strengths and weaknesses in the following areas: professionalism and timeliness, quality of service, customer satisfaction, communication, and personnel.
In terms of professionalism and timeliness, multiple comments highlight the slowness of the salon. Customers express frustration at waiting for extended periods of time, even with scheduled appointments. This shows a weakness in the salon's ability to efficiently manage their appointments and respect their customers' time. However, one positive comment mentions that the staff is good at what they do, suggesting that they have expertise in African braiding.
The quality of service provided by 138 African Braids Place also receives mixed reviews. Some customers complain about their braids not being the same size or length despite requesting it, which demonstrates a weakness in attention to detail. Additionally, a customer refers to their daughter's back-to-school hair looking "2 weeks old," indicating a lack of durability in their styling. Customer satisfaction is an essential aspect of any business. Unfortunately, comments reveal numerous instances where customers were disappointed with their experience at 138 African Braids Place. Complaints range from rudeness to feeling guilty while getting their hair done. These negative experiences contribute to a weakness in customer satisfaction, which can potentially lead to loss of business.
Communication is another area where the salon seems to have weaknesses. One customer mentions the braider complaining about the chosen hairstyle and even joking about charging more for it. This lack of professionalism and consideration for the customer's choice indicates a communication issue that could make customers feel unwelcome or undervalued. Additionally, comments about not being informed in advance when there is a delay or a stylist is unavailable reflect a lack of effective communication within the salon.
Lastly, the personnel at 138 African Braids Place also receive mixed feedback. Some customers express appreciation for specific braiders and mention their skill and expertise, indicating a strength in personnel. However, other customers complain about subpar services provided by certain stylists. This suggests a weakness in consistent quality across the salon's staff.
In conclusion, 138 African Braids Place has both strengths and weaknesses. While some customers appreciate the skill and results of certain stylists, there are significant complaints regarding professionalism, timeliness, quality of service, customer satisfaction, communication, and personnel. These weaknesses need to be addressed in order to improve the overall customer experience and ensure the longevity and success of the salon.
