Fantastic pub loved everything about it, landlady and staff lovely and friendly, will definitely be coming bk. We were made to feel very welcome. Xx

No red wine. Had 2 glasses of pino gregio, and they then ran out of that. Nice surroundings, though. The woodburner was going to keep us warm.

So yesterday we took a steam train to Carlisle…

Knowing our friends and the fact we had three hours to spend in this lovely city, we knew we would need somewhere to go for a few cheeky libations!!! So after a little research on the net we found The Lane Bar situated in the historic quarter … Noting the current situation with regard to booking tables I dropped them a message in which I received a very prompt and polite response saying it was walk in only…however,

because it looked so good we still took our chances and headed down there, which we were glad we did….

The place itself is just wonderful with underground tunnels and rooms with really cool decor, a chilled vibe and great tunes.

The bar service was spot on with a wide selection of drinks served In the correct glassware by a young man with a look of Harry Styles!!!

Needing a little something to soak up the long drinks we asked for a snack menu which sadly there wasn’t one, however in

a matter of no time we were presented with a really tasty tapas board prepared by Gill the owner… True hospitality right there!!!!

Being a beautiful day we made the most the fabulous beer garden which is a real sun trap with areas of shade for those who prefer to stay cool….

We really didn’t want to leave this place, it ticked ever box!!!

Nice place to have a drink, music isn't too loud so you can have a chat. Service very poor though, stood at the bar for 10 minutes waiting for a round of drinks as the bar staff were more interested in singing and dancing and chatting with friends

Amazing find. Brilliant staff. Quirky building inside and out. Cocktails to die for. Can’t wait for the food. Cracking afternoon was spent on Saturday.

Very small but excellent use of space to make a number of different areas and barstaff were great laugh.

Also great choice of drinks with staff who know what they are talking about.
