Best Barber Shop to go to cuts always look sharp. I highly recommend booking an appointment here
These guys are the best! Family-run business that is VERY busy so they do their best to accommodate everyone, but can’t always do so. If you want to get your hair cut by these master barbers you need to get there early and/or be prepared to wait a while.
With the high quality you get for the low price, it’s definitely worth the wait. Plan it into your schedule (or make an appointment on the weekend) and you won’t be disappointed!
Best Barbershop I've been to. Been going to Ed's Barbershop since he opened up. It's very friendly always asks how you're doing how's the feels like he's part of the family
I love this place. I have gone to get my hair cut and my eyebrows shaped over 5 times by this point. At first I would get my hair cut with whoever was available, but now I tend to cut my hair with Meg. My experience with everyone has been great but Meg has been helping me with my longer hair journey! My partner also gets his haircut here and usually gets great haircuts. The only times he hasn't been super satisfied is due to him being unsure about what he wants. Overall we are both extremely satisfied with this place.
On a social note, I am a very awkward person who doesn't particularly enjoy interacting with others. That's one of the reasons I really enjoy this place. I never feel pressured to join the discussion in the group but always feel welcome to contribute if I want to.
I have two 'negatives' which aren't really negatives.
The first is the price. A haircut costs $25 plus tip. Although this seems up to par with the other places nearby, I'm originally from Puerto Rico where the price for a haircut is usually $13-16 plus tip, so the price change is a little jarring. It's not a big deal when you consider the quality of the haircut.
Another possible negative is the wait time. If you are a walk in, it is not uncommon to wait 1 to 2.5 hours for your haircut. That's how thorough and popular they are. I suggest you do what I do. Go to the barber's shop and sign up, then go get breakfast or do some shopping. They'll call you when your turn is coming up.
Overall, great place for a great cut.
When I walked into Ed's, I knew that I was in the right place immediately by the amount of guys waiting for their turn for a haircut. I waited for about 45 minutes, which is not to bad if the cut is worth it, and it was. I had not had a haircut in about 6 months, and my beard had not been trimmed in about 4 months. Ed had a tough customer in me, especially since I am very particular about my appearance, specifically my beard. Ed took his time, making sure he did exactly what I was asking for. He was making friendly conversation with me all the while, telling me about his family and his outreach to troubled young men, and asked me about my upcoming marriage and things of the sort. I knew he had his family waiting for him to get home, and I felt bad about keeping him there about 30 minutes past closing time, but he was determined to give me a great cut and trim no matter how long it took. The service was some of the best I have experienced in quite a while, and everyone who left after their cut did so with a smile and a sharp look! Thanks to Ed for restoring me to "dapper" status!
Got a couple good barber's, the rest are basic qualified. Like the look of the shop, though it is small. Cuts are not overpriced $20 a cut. Usually a really long wait for walk ins min 1hr. But atmosphere too arrogant, disrespectful to customers, won't be returning.
The moment I walked in and was offered a beer. I dropped my previous barber. The wait is worth it. They take their time with cutting your hair rather than rushing through to make sure their next appointment gets done. Can't wait to get to know the owner and workers. Friendly environment and makes you feel like you are hanging out with the bros.
I've yet to find a better barbershop in Philly. The staff is amazing, friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled.
Ed is an awesome person.
I've seen them give warm welcomes to literally everyone who walks through their doors, no matter who they are.
I wish there were more stars I could give them.

Quick Facts About Ed's Barber Shoppe

Ed's Barber Shoppe has several strengths that make it a highly recommended place to get a haircut. One of the main strengths mentioned in the comments is the quality of the haircuts. Multiple customers praise the barbers for always leaving their cuts looking sharp. This consistency in delivering high-quality haircuts demonstrates the skill and expertise of the barbers at Ed's Barber Shoppe.
Another strength mentioned is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The barbers at Ed's Barber Shoppe take the time to build relationships with their customers, making them feel like part of the family. This personalized approach helps create a positive and comfortable environment for customers, especially those who may feel awkward or socially hesitant. The commenter even mentions that they never feel pressured to join in on conversations, but are always welcome to contribute if they want to.
The family-run aspect of Ed's Barber Shoppe is also mentioned as a strength. This adds a personal touch to the business and makes customers feel more connected to the barbers. The commenter specifically mentions Ed's friendly nature and how it feels like he is part of the family. This familial atmosphere creates a sense of trust and loyalty between the customers and the barbers.
Additionally, the affordable price of haircuts at Ed's Barber Shoppe is considered a strength. Although the commenter mentions that the price may be higher compared to where they are originally from, they still believe it is worth it due to the quality of the haircuts. This suggests that customers believe they are getting good value for their money at Ed's Barber Shoppe.
Despite these strengths, there are a couple of weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One weakness is the wait time for walk-in customers. It is stated that the shop can be very busy and wait times can range from 1 to 2.5 hours. While some customers don't mind the wait and plan it into their schedule, it can be inconvenient for those who don't have that much time to spare. However, the commenter provides a solution by suggesting signing up for a haircut and then doing other activities while waiting for their turn.
The price of haircuts is also mentioned as a potential negative, although it is not seen as a major issue. The price of $25 plus tip is considered reasonable compared to other nearby places, but it may still be higher than what some customers are used to paying. This could be a deterrent for potential customers who are price-sensitive or accustomed to cheaper haircuts.
Lastly, there is a comment that mentions an arrogant and disrespectful atmosphere at Ed's Barber Shoppe. However, this comment is in the minority and contradicts the overwhelmingly positive comments about the friendly and welcoming environment. It is possible that this negative experience was an exception rather than the norm.
In conclusion, Ed's Barber Shoppe has several strengths that make it a highly recommended place for getting a haircut. These strengths include consistently sharp haircuts, a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, a family-run business, and affordable prices. While there are a few weaknesses mentioned, such as wait times and slightly higher prices, the overall positive experiences and recommendations outweigh these concerns.
