LOVE the Marin County Civic Center designed by Frank Lloyd Wright! There’s a beautiful lake behind the Civic Center, a wonderful auditorium & a great library. This is Frank Lloyd Wright at his finest. Just don’t end up in the Marin County Jail! ????
We stopped in to visit the famous civic center designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. We very much enjoyed the architectural design from Wright throughout the complex. They county has done a wonderful job recounting the story of getting the civic center completed and some of the barriers encountered along the way. We also enjoyed the special textiles exhibit on display during our July 2022 visit. If you're in the area, appreciate architecture, and/or a Frank Lloyd Wright fan, this is a must for your itinerary!
There is a library in it. Also, you can find around parks and recreation areas by walk.
Every saturday there is a farmers market in the parking lot. Fresh produce!
프랭크 로이드 라이트의 작품으로 널리 알려져 있지는 않지만, 직접 와서 보니 뉴욕 구겐하임 미술관만큼 좋았습니다.^^
It is an extraordinarily unique and interesting government center. Frank Lloyd Wright designed it with his principles of organic architecture to form amazing spaces and beautiful views of the surrounding landscape while bringing the outside into the building. The new roof repairs look blutiful.
Lovely building a lot of nice public spaces! Lots of bathrooms and parking spots.
This is one of the weirdest government complex of buildings ever created. Yes, designed by the late, great Frank Lloyd Wright, and very "futuristic-looking" from the outside. It's actually a giant gerbil run with confusing long hallways, and difficult-to-find government offices and Court rooms. And a nice county Library. Insufficient elevators, escalators, and bathrooms. Poor ADA layout, difficult to find offices, with thousands of highly-paid government workers hiding out in their spaces and trying not to be found - lest they might have to do more "official" government work! Ghosts of past crimes, and historic events! Definitely a tourist location - a place for a good big hike! Just don't get lost in the labyrinth of it all! (And if you actually need to do some official government business or GO to COURT, allow plenty of time to find where you need to go!)
Most of the staff is quite friendly, few need some training in public rights. Really nice building

Quick Facts About County of Marin

The County of Marin has several strengths that contribute to its overall appeal. One of the main attractions is the Marin County Civic Center, designed by the renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Visitors and locals alike appreciate the beautiful architectural design of the complex. The incorporation of Wright's principles of organic architecture allows for amazing spaces and stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The unique and interesting design of the government center sets it apart from others, making it a memorable destination.
Additionally, the County of Marin offers various amenities and features that enhance its appeal. The presence of a library within the civic center provides a convenient resource for residents and visitors. The library serves as a hub for knowledge and learning, offering access to a wide range of books and resources. Furthermore, the availability of public spaces within the complex provides opportunities for relaxation and community engagement. Visitors can enjoy the well-maintained parks and recreation areas, which are easily accessible on foot.
Another strength of the County of Marin is the presence of a vibrant farmers market. Every Saturday, the parking lot transforms into a bustling marketplace filled with fresh produce. This offers a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to support local farmers and purchase high-quality food directly from the source. The farmers market showcases the agricultural abundance of the region, promoting sustainability and community connections.
The County of Marin also receives praise for its efforts in preserving and showcasing its history. The civic center offers exhibits that recount the story of its construction, including the challenges encountered along the way. This demonstrates the county's commitment to preserving its architectural heritage and educating visitors about its rich history. Additionally, the presence of a textiles exhibit during a specific period shows the county's dedication to offering diverse cultural experiences to its visitors.
Despite these strengths, there are a few weaknesses associated with the County of Marin. One major criticism revolves around the complex layout of the civic center. Some visitors find it difficult to navigate through the long hallways and locate specific government offices and courtrooms. Insufficient elevators and escalators, as well as poor ADA layout, further exacerbate the issue. This can be frustrating for individuals who need to conduct official government business or attend court proceedings, as it may result in delays and confusion.
Furthermore, there have been mixed reviews regarding the availability of amenities within the civic center. While there are commendations for the abundance of bathrooms and parking spots, some individuals criticize the lack of bathrooms and inadequate accessibility options. These criticisms suggest the need for improvement in infrastructure and facilities to accommodate all visitors, including those with disabilities.
In terms of staff, the majority are described as friendly, which contributes to a positive experience for visitors. However, a few comments suggest that some staff members may benefit from additional training in addressing public rights. This indicates the need for ongoing professional development to ensure that all visitors are treated with respect and receive the necessary assistance.
In conclusion, the County of Marin, with its iconic Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Civic Center and its various amenities, offers a unique and attractive destination for architecture enthusiasts and those seeking cultural experiences. However, the complex layout, lack of accessibility options, and a need for staff training in public rights are areas that require attention for the county to provide a seamless and enjoyable experience for all visitors. By addressing these weaknesses and building upon its strengths, the County of Marin has the potential to become an even more appealing and welcoming place.
