I came in August and really loved how my silk press turned out and Latasha straightened my hair really nicely and gave me a well overdue trim. My hair had so much body and looked great. However, I had to wait for about 2 or 2.5 hours to be seen and the appointment was booked. I was about 10 minutes late but that was a very long wait time. The young lady (not Latasha) who washed, shampooed, blow-dried, and deep conditioned my hair was aggressive. I believe she could have been a lot more patience when dealing with my natural hair. She forced the blow dryer and hair tool through my tangles as opposed to stopping to detangle or to try another approach, it gave me the impression that she did not have the patience or knowledge to properly do my natural (non-relaxed) hair. The sides behind my ear (not my edges area but behind) are significantly shorter than before I went to Chocolate City. I looked at pictures and videos (I have been tracking my natural hair progression for months prior) and they were a lot longer. I am saddened. This would be a five-star review if the wait time was not very long and the young lady was more gentle towards my hair and if the sides of my hair were not pulled out. My hair was fragile and damaged so less force and patience from the young lady would have been an appreciated approach. Again the end result was fantastic, my silk press lasted for a long time and I received so many compliments on it (people thought my hair was a weave lol) :)
My sisters and I had a hair day at Chocolate City Hair Salon and Day Spa and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My stylist, Jessica, listened to me and gave me exactly what I asked for; she did a phenomenal job. I'm from Maryland and will have a standing monthly appointment with Jessica. She took her time, was precise with trimming my hair and is a sweetheart. For a cut and style, I paid $70, which I think is very reasonable, considering I've paid $110 for a wash and wrap in Maryland.
We enjoyed the experience. The salon is nice. The owner, Tasha, made sure we were comfortable, with tea, coffee, water and snacks. Very nice.
I have been going to this salon for 9 years. The service is great! Great atmosphere, and the staff is very professional and very nice. Tasha is a awesome stylist/ owner. They also have a boutique with stylish clothing. I love this salon, and will go no other place!

She treats the clients good because she wants to continue getting your money! This review is for anyone who wants to work there! DO NOT DO IT TO YOURSELF! She is the only one working in that huge shop for a reason! All the barbers, stylist, nail and last techs left! And so did I! You will not make money there! It’s a waste of time!
This review is super late but I feel strongly about my negative experience. I made an appointment for a hair cut more specifically a pixie cut with at least 3 inches of hair intact so I could flat iron it. I came in a day before my appointment to show the stylist what I wanted. I arrived the day of and before the stylist began I asked if she would like to see the picture once more for reference. She replied "No, I remember what it looked like.". So, because she is a 'professional' I trusted her. Big mistake. She grab clippers and completely shaved the back of my hair off. Zero length remaining. I requested a layered pixie and received early Grace Jones. Despicable.
My daughter and I are new clients from November 2018. Salon and barber services are offered at this beautifully designed establishment as well as excellent customer service. Complimentary refreshments are offered while you wait. The atmosphere is very pleasant. The owner is an entrepreneur of over 20 years, highly professional, very knowledgeable of her craft and an inspiration , in my opinion. My hair was pretty damaged and 5 weeks post my initial visit my hair is already healthy and growing!
